EAST COAST VISITED
A LONG MOTOR TRIP. Mr and Mrs. W. Power have returned to .Stratford after a motor trip to the Bast Coast extending over about a thousand miles. The travellers first went to Wahganui and thence went up to Raetihi and through the National Park to Tokaanu. Going round the eastern, side of Lake TaJupo, the route next lay to Wairakei, Waiotapu and Rotoruai viU the Waimangu Road. It had been, intended to make an ascent of Mount Sgongotaha, but this trip was abandoned, owing to smoke making visibility had. On fa, clear day, it may he mentioned, the view from the Mount Ngongotahn, but this trip was* of tho ordinary. While at Whakalie.warewa Mr and Mrs Power witnessed la, Maori tangi. Leaving Rotorua, the travellers proceeded to Whakatane, Opotiki, Gisborne, Wairoa and Napier. The return to Stratford was made vi>a Taiha.pe atadi Marton. Mn Po'Wter. k enthusiastic in reference to the operations of the Auckland Automobile Association, saying that their road signs aire excellent, making it easy for the motorist to find his way.. A pleasing feature was that there was ample* evidence that the Association was recognised and appreciated by the hotels in th& district. An excellent idea was in evidence! in Gisborne. where there are recognised Association hotels.
