THAMES STEAMER SUNK
STRUCK BY ANOTHER’S PROPELLER NO LIVES LOST. LONDON, August 30. The propeller of the Pandos Eeltana holed the steamer Torrington in a. collision in the Thames, the Torrington sinking alongside the wharf. TJie Belt-ana, and Torrington were proceeding together down the Gravesend Reach when the former struck and cut in halves a small motor boat which had broken down. Its sole occupant jumped into the river and was rescued by a tug. The Battalia, then swung and, as a result, the Torrington was holed and beached in a; sinking condition. The Beltana was able to proceed to Australia.
