the west coast visit. i WESTPORT, April 19. I The Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, visited Karamea am! unveiled Hie fallen soldiers’, memorial gates and also received numerous deputations. The Minister returned to Westport this evening and was accorded a civic reception in the Town Hall by the Mayor (Mr MeuziesL Messrs H. E. Holland, M.P.. J. H. Powell (chairman of the county council), Mr Parker (president of the Buller Progress League) also speaking to the welcome, i Deputations were received concerning tiio Westport-Greymoutli coastal road, the Buller Gorge railway, river erosion, freeholding of colliery reserve leases, motor vehicle traffic, and other matters, to all of which representations the Minister promised serious consideration.
