OBITUARY.

T. WESTERN, OF FITZROY. Mr T, Western, of Devon Street,. Fitzroy, died suddenly on Saturday afternoon while paying a visit to the Breakwater in company with his sis-ter-in-law. Mr Western, who was 85 years of age, was a. very old and respected citizen of New Plymouth,.,. He le«ves'tf l ‘vridow'-and'a 'grown-up fdiii- 1 ily. As Mr Western had been receiving medical attention f-r a considerable time, it is understood no inquest will be necessary. Coming put to New Zealand in the ship Bombay, over fifty years ago, Mr Western settled in the Auckland district. /After a short stay there lie I Tt andi settled in Taranaki. He was farming at Bell Block for thirty years before he retired to New Plymouth fifteen year ago. For a great number of years he took an active part ip the affairs of the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society. Members Of the familv are Messrs T.. H. Western (Bell Block), A. E. Western (Hawera)' Mesdames Frank Hoskin (Waitara), J. L. Connett (Auckland), and B. Loveridg© (Tikorangi).

The death took place on Thursday last of Mrs John Donovan, relict of Sergeant Donovan, who was for many years in charge of the police station, at Patea, and who afterwards resided in the Alton district, where he had; charge of the Alton Hotel. The funeral took place at Patea.
