COOLIES PACKED IN BOXES.
DEATH BY STARVATION.

The police sliadowed two well dressed Chinese escorting three packing cases of unusual size. When they were opened, they disgorged three terribly emaciated coolies just arrived by a steamer from Singapore. One shortly after release died from starvation. The two others confessed that they had been in. the boxes for a month.
Two of the Chinese escorting the boxes were arrested.
