NIGHT IN THE SCRUB

LADY TRAXPEBS' EXPERIENCE. RELATIVES OX THE SEARCH. Per Press Association. Wellington, September 16. Two young lady trampers left Wellington on Sunday morning, intending to walk to the Re ( ] Rocks round the coast via Island Hay, past Happy Valley. From the Red Rocks they set out for the head of Long Gully, a rather strenuous walk, which, if continued, leads to Mount Hawkens, the highest peak behind. Instead of going i n this direction, the girls decided to make for the Karori reservoir. They . became tired, and ha ( j to make a biviouc in the scrub for the night. Then they managed to make their way home yesterday. Meantime, their parents and friends became alarmed and organised search parties,- whose services happily were not needed, but the brother and the father of one girl spent the night in the scrub searching, and had a rough experience.
