The- Governor-Genera], , Viscount Jellicoe, has telegraphed to Hawera regretting that he will be unable: to stay at Hawera' during his Taranaki tour, but he will welcome the opportunity, however, of bidding farewell to the Mayor, councillors, and citizens dining the short stay of the mail train at the Hawejra railway station on Thursday morning. Dr. W. P. Gordon, who had been attending a British Medical Association conference at Wellington, returned to Stratford by the mail train on Saturday. . '-Mr R. His condition was somewhat easier on - Sunday, and latest reports to-day state that there is further slight improvement. Advice has been received in New Plymouth from London that Mrs E. Dockrill has been nominated as an honorary serving sister in the Grand Priory of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem in England, and that the nomination has been! approved by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught, head of the Order. This is l well-merited recognition of the services of Mrs Dockrill, who has been a memW of th Q New Plymouth committee sirtce its formation in 1900 and secretary and treasurer since 1908.
