SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP

WHO HAS THE TITLE] Per Press Association. Hamilton .September 11. In view' of the sculling race Hannan versus Arnst, fixed for October 25th, on the Waikato River, controversy has arisen in reference to the claim of the Australian title. Today Mr J. Ceruti. as Iron, secretary, publishes a letter from the New South Wales Sculling League which in effect confirms the cable message that McDevitt is Australasian champion. Hannan, in reply, refers to Mr H. deal’s published interview on behalf of the Auckland committee controlling the Hannan-McDevUt race on the Waitemata in which Mr deal stated that McDevitt admitted after Hannan had beaten him that Hannan was the champion. Mr deal, in closing the interview, said he would like to inform Mr Seruti, who was then in Auckland, that an able and reputable body was i n existence quite capable of conducting Australasian championships without Mr Ceruti’s assistance.
