The last visit to New Plymouth of the Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe) before . his return to England, takes place on Monday and Tuesday, September 15 and 16. During l , his visit; the New Plymouth war memorial cenotaph, now nearly completed, will be unveiled.
■ jpr. T, L. Paget and Mrs Paget arrived in Stratford last evening, and left by motor this morning for Kaponga and the South.
Inspectors Ballautyno, Valentine end Griffin, of : the Taranaki Education ..Board, are at present conducting examinations atV the Stratford Primary School. ;
- • f ■ ■ Messrs W. H. Moyes, president of the Taranaki, Swimming Centre, and Mr J. F. Shearer, secretary, were in Stratford this morning for the purpose of presenting certificates to the pupils of the Schools. Tliev afterwards went on to Eltham, Oco and Opuhake.
A London cablegram states that'/ Mr >A. Barnett, a New Zealand research student at Clare College, Cambridge, has been awarded the tfenham Baynes studenship of £4OO a year for two years for research in physics.
The newly-appointed Vicar of Inglewood, the Rev. H. Lindsay, M.A., was instituted to the cure of his parish on Tueiday evening. In the absence of the Bishop, the institution was conducted by the Venerable Archdeacon Evans, who was assisted by the Revs F. Harvie. H. Coleman, J. L. A. Kayll and T 5. H. Strong. There was" a large congregation and the Archdeacon preached a vigorous sermon on the duties both of the clergy and the people in the work of a parish. After the service, a reception was held m the Parish Hall. .
