LIQUOR AND THE NATIVES. TE AWAMUTU COURT CASES. i Per Press Association. Te Awamutu, September i. Before Mr Platts, at the Magistrate's Court, George Leapai, native of Hawaii, was' charged with, keeping liquor for sale in a proclaimed area; to wit, the King Country. The hearing occupied several hours. Aroused was fined £25 and costs £5. Arthur Wilding and William Coulter, fanners, Ohaupo, Avere charged with the theft of a large quantity of tools, milking machinery, and plant from settlers in the locality. A romand was asked for and granteu', when numerous charges involving the theft of farm implements amounting to several hundred pounds will bo preferred.! Several Natives were fined for taking liquor into the King Country. James Francis McMullen was fined £2O for supplying'Maoris.
