The Unemployed Sustenance Pay- 1 meat Act operates from the middle j of September. Under it the Unemployed Council may grant susten-j auce to anyone who has contributed | to the fund for six months, and who has been unemployed in the Brisbane area for fortnight. Sustenance pay is 15/- weekly for unmarried men and 25/- for married, with 4/6 additional for each child under sixteen for a maximum period of fifteen weeks.
