A motor car accident occurred at the intersection "of Pembroke Road and Mountain Road last evening. Mr W. Payton, taxi driver, with Mr and Mrs\A H. *R. Amess as passen-, gers was about to cross the main road towards the railway line when there was a collision with a car travelling towards Stratford, and driven by Mr C. A. Wilkinson of Eltham, accompanied by Mrs Wilkinson. The impact was such as to break the front wheel of Mr Wilkinson's car, the spokes of the wheel on the driver's side being broken off and the front portion considerably damaged, and the ax*les of both cars were locked. Pay ton's running board was considerably damaged and floor and side portion of the car smashed. Mr and Mrs Amess were shaken by the impact. Mr and Mrs Wilkinson were unable to use their car and were conveyed to their home by Mr A. Rawles, who also conveyed Mr and Mrs Amess to the Technical High School social whither they were jour neying at the time of the accident. No personal injuries were sustained.
