At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Hockey Association a letter was received from the English Hockey Assocition stating that the leading ’Varsity players in England would not bo able to spare the necessary time to Join tho proposed tour of an English team to New Zealand, and as a consequence tho English Association regretted that the tour could not take place, WELLINGTON BEAT WAIRARAPA Carterton, August 29. Tlie Wairarapa and Wellington representative hockey teams met at Carterton to-day, in fine weather and on a dry- ground. At half-time the score "as one all. The second spell entire-! ly favoured Wellington, who proved ' superior in all departments, and who scored three goals. ,
