Mr Cosgrave’s return is assumed. Reports from Clare are contrad icto-y, but it is believed that Mr de Valera will be strongly supported. PILGRIMAGE TO ITALY. Rome, August 28. It is announced that Mr Cosgrave, accompanied hy Free State officials and church dignitaries, will visit Bohhio on Saturday to attend festivities commemorating the foundation of the local monastery by Saint Columban, who was bom in Ireland and died in Italy. Mr Oosg-avc arierwards will visit tho principal Italian cities and will probably have an audience with the Pope.

The eariy return of the Irish elections suggest a sweeping Government victory.
Mr O’TTiggins and Mr Mulcahy (Free State Ministers) led the polls in Dublin by overwhelming majorities. Mr Desmond and M** Fitzgerald are also sure of election for Dublin County. Mr O’Higgins, interviewed, said the Republicans had b*en swamped, and he would be surprised if twenty were returned. Ministers CoSgrave, O’Higgins, Mulcahy, M'Neil, and the reb?l leader Aitken have boen elected.
