DEFEATED BY KING COUNTRY.

Mainly through the brilliance of Byrne, King Country to-day defeated Taranaki by 12 points to 3, after a fair exhibition of Rugby. Taranaki were superior in the first half, but faded in the second spell before the fast onrushes of the hpavy King Country forwards. For the winners Byrne, Wright and Carlson scored tries, Byrne also kicking a penalty goal. Sharrock kicked a penalty goal for the visitors.
SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT.
Timaru, August 28
Final play in the South Island High School football tourney concluded to-day. Timaru 5 beat Southland 3; Otago 11 beat Christchurch 3.
MOASCAR CUP MATCH
TO-MORROW,
The kick-off !n the Moascar Cup match at New Plymouth to-morrow between Palmerston and New Plymouth Boys' High Schools is at 2.15 p.m. and the match will finish In time to let country visitors catch the 4.20 train.
