THE OHURA RAILWAY.
| A point of special interest to this district in the Public Works State- * meut is the Minister’s pronouncement that he intends to push ahead energetically with the construction of the Stratford-Okahukura line from the Matiere end and next year to again actively operate at the Tahora end. We regret that the Minister has not yet sufficiently realised the very great importance ' of expeditiously completing what is undoubtedly the most important Public Work- in the North Island, and after his attitude when recently in Taranaki and the very good genj oral policy he outlined with regard i to public works, it is a little diffi- • cult to understand why work at the ■ Tahora end should not also he expedited. For many years and under ! many Governments this line has crept painfully—and expensively—along: we look for better things from Mr Coates.
