Mr. Volstead, lecturing before the anti-alcohol conference, said prohibit on in the Tinted. States had resulted in a decrease of crime. It had caused the closing of twenty prisons and had saved the nation four to five milliard dollars. A Dani h delegate, Profesop Worming, said the consumption of alcohol in the United States now amounted to at least 30 per cent, of the consumption prior to prohibition. The American delegates questioned thig statement, which the Dutch delegates supported.
