Soon after two o’clock thi s afternoon twelve competitors breasted the tape at JLightband and Wann’s, Broadway, for the cyolo road race via East-Skinner-Bird road to Broadway (first portion) and then continuing to East Road, Beaconsfield Road, Midhirst, and the Mountain Road home. The officials were: Handicapper, Mr L. H, Wann; starter, Mr W. Power; judge, Mr T. Kirkwood; timekeeper, Air W. Beagley; secretary, Mr W. A. Mackav. The riders and handicaps were:—Reed (Usee), Bplk (10), W, Orofts (9), Vickers (9), Richmond (8), Sangster (8), Gernhoefer (7), Hale (6). Platt (4), Betteridge (4), Walter Sharroek (1) and Coleman scratch. The order of the riders ih the first portion passing through Broadway wag Reed 1, Belk 2, Orofts 3, and Sangster 4. Owing to the heavy rains the route, especially the Bird Road portion, was heavy, the hill at the Bird-Mountain road being a particularity difficult on© to climb. The result was a s follows; R. Ueed, who won comfortably, 1, F. Betteridge 2, E. Hale 3, P. W. Belk 4, and Sangster 5. Betteridge did the fastest time, taking 76 minutes 2 seconds.
