A strike of several lliousand workersi at Vera Cruz, in sympathy with the j striking tramcar employees, caused a suspension of th© city’s industries, and threatened a bread famine. Meanwhile the city is without tram, telephone, and electric services. The Federation of Labor, together with the Mexican railway employees, has threatened to call a general sympathetic strike in the entire Republic. The Government is despatching troops to guard the power houses.
