The Bank will sell the whole works, lock, stock and barrel, for £130,000, works which cost a quarter of a million, and on terms which are particularly easy. Enemies of the farmers' works say there is not sufficient stock in Taranaki to warrant the re-opening of the works. Don't believe them Taranaki can supply annually over 11,000 cattle and 200,000 sheep and lambs for export, sufficient to keep all the works' going very profitably. Then there are the pigs, which are going to be a big thing. Smart Road is in the best position of any, because it is alongside a deep-sea port, it has cheap power and abundant water, whilst on the new capitalisation the overhead charges will be reduced to a minimum.
