’From Onr Own Correspondent). The contractor for the Cardiff Hall is making good headway, and gven fine weither the opening should taac pl°ce shortly. The Taranaki Education Board's carpenters are at present making extensive repairs to the Cardiff School. Th© school and the headmaster’s residence are also being painted.
The Stratford County Council’s’ crushing plant has arrived and Foreman Plows and his staff are making good headway with tho remetallimr of the Opunake Hoad from Richardson’s towards Cardiff. A good job is being made of it. I understand the Cardiff Dairy Co. have sold the balance of last season’s cheese at a very satisfactory figure and will be able to wind up the year with a very satisfactory payout. The Company have also sold thoir winter butter at a satisfactory figure. Friends of Mr P. Morrissey will regret to loam that ho is at present confined to his bed with a severe attack of “flu.”
Tire local factory is taking milk every day and is into the second vat. Cheese has been made from tho beginning of the month, which is about three weeks earlier than last sen son.
Tho paddocks are looking very base, with the exception of those have boon top-dressed. 1 armors in this district have done a good deal of manuring this season, and everything points to a record season so far as milk is concerned* The annual meeting of our local factory takes place in the Cardiff Schoolroom at 8 p.m. on August 27th. Nominations for three seats cn the directorate close with, tho secretary (Mr T. H. Penn) on Saturday next, at 5 p.m. Tho retiring directors are Messrs ,T. Richards, J. T. Belcher, an<] P. Patterson.
