HIDES AND SHEEPSKINS. STRATFORD SALES. The local office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. supplies the following report:— At our monthly hide and .sheepskin sale held hero yesterday, we offered a. fair catalogue of solely farmers' produce. Butchers' hides and sheepskins did not come forward. Eleven buyers, representing Auckland, Wellington, New Plymouth and other houses, were in attendance, all our lots being sold under the hammer. We quote the following prices realised for farmer lines : Sheepskins: Crossbred full wool medium course, 5s to 10s each; crossbifd full wool biddi, Os each; crossbred, ;|-wool (torn and damaged), 2s 9d each ; crossbred \ faulty pelts, 3s Gd each; crossbred lambs, 3s 3d each ; cioisbred J-wcols salted, -Is 3d each ; ; crossbred J-wools safted, 3s 7d each; crossbred full wools salted, 5s to 6-s 6d each.

Hides, : Cowhides, liojit, 13s 3d to 16s lOd eachj bull hide, 13s each; horse hide, 10s each; yearlings, 7s lid to 8s 4d each. Calfskins, firsts, 4s 9d to 5s Id each; calfskins, seconds, 4s 3d to 4s Gd each; calfskins, thirds, 3s 3d each; calfskins, first cuts, 2s 6d to,2s 9d each. HIDE AND SKIN SALES. COOD DEMAND FOR CALFSKINS. Newton King Ltd report: At our sale on Tuesday, 14th August, catalogues were submitted to a full bench of buyers. Dry sheepskins were in good demand and sold at advanced rates, while salteds wore a shade easier. Hides declined Jd to |d all round, inferior parcels up to id. Tallow advanced Is per cwt. So much has been heard of late of the drop in calfskin values that we anticipated these meeting a, weak market, but contrary to expectations good prices were obtained. Best sorts roalised 5s Gd each. The above prioes go to show that the best results are obtained at the sales, and we ask farmers to forward consignments for the next sale on 11th. I September.

Calfskins: Best, 12$ d to 12Jd; seconds, 10-Jd to ll£d; cut slippy, Sd to ygd. Tallow in tins, 21s to 2os per cwt.
