THE NATIONAL MEETING. STEEPLES TO OAKLEICH. Per Press Association. Ohristchurch, August 14. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting opened in fine weather. There was a large attendance. The track was in good order, having dried up well during last week. Results : Hunters' Hurdles, of 200sovs., 1$ miles.—Car vwock (11.1) 1, Paul Pry (10.7) 2, Phil May (11.12) 3. All started. Won by four lengths. Time, 3.22. Trial Hurdles, of 400sovs., H miles.—Vagabond (11.3) 1, Malingerer (10.9) 2, Rowan (9.11) 3. All started. Won by a length. Time, 3.18. Cashmere Plato, of 300sovs., six furlongs.—Tiff (9.0) 1, Hillock (10.0) 2, Courcellette (10.0) 3. Scratched: Berwick, Blazes, Geranial, Prime >ra, Silo, Winkie's Best. Won by a length. Time, 1.17. Jumpers' Kbit, of 300sovs., 1\ miles.—Tinokaha (9.0) 1, R«l Gown (10.3) 2. Amnns (9.0) 3. Scratched; Poanui, Omnhu. Won by a le.mrth. Time, 2,'0 25. Grand National Steeples, of 2200-o vs. 3\ miles.
