Jfr F. W. "Wake returned to Auckland by this morning's mail train. Mr F. T. Bellringer, town clerk of New Plymouth, has recovered from an attack of influenza and has resumed his duties. Mr Evan Parry, the well-known electric authority, left for Sydney on Saturday, proceeding thence to Melbourne and subsequently to Colombo. Mr E, S. Rutherfurd was last night nominated by the Stratford Borough Council as representative of that body on the Board of Governors of the Stratford Technical High School. Mr and Mrs F. W. Webster and family left by the mail train on Monday evening en route to Whangarei, where Mr Webster has joined the staff of a local auctioneering firm. The Rev. H. T. Steele, vicar, of i Helensville, has been appointed; vicar of Whangarei, in succession to the Rev. G. G. Cruickshank, who is succeeding the Rev. W. Beatty, as vicar of St. Mark's, Remuera.

Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., of Palmerston North will relieve Mr J. S. Barton, S.M. j at the Hawera Court for a fortnight, to enable Mr Barton to overtake an accumulation of Court work at Wanganui.

Ward, the Borough Council meeting to have been held last evening was adjourned until next Monday, after a resolution had been passed expressing the condolence of the Council with Cr. E. S. Rutherfurd in the great loss sustained by the death of his wife. The Deputy Mayor (Mr E. Carryer) briefly moved the motion which wa,s seconded by Cr. T. Lawson. Mr Carryer referred to the high esteem in whjch Mrs Rutherfurd was held in Stratford, a fact which the large funeral on Sunday afternoon testified to. Councillor Lawson desired to express his, personal sincere regret at Councillor Rutherfurd's loss; The, deceased lady was very highly respected, having taken an active part in the social life of Stratford, also she had been untiring in her efforts as a Church worker, and a wide circle of friends would miss her very much. The deep sympathy of the Council was with the and deceased's parents (Mr and Mrs P. W. Wake) in their bereavement. The motion was carried in silence, fflomboru standing.
