A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Judge Docker.

Mrs Rutherford, of Masterton, sister to Mr E. S. Rutherfurd, arrived in Stratford on Saturday.

Mr R. Masters M.P., spent the week-end at home, and returned to Wellington by the mail train this morning.

Miss Amy Castles and Miss Eileen Castles are at present in Wellington and this Afternoon ,were the guests of the Pioneer Club.

Mr H. E. Abraham, Manager at Stratford for Messrs Newton King, Ltd., is at present confined to his residence with influenza and will not be in attendance at his office for a few days.

Mr and Mrs F. W. Wake, arrived i n Stratford on Saturday afternoon. Mr Wake returns to Auckland tomorrow morning, s but Mrs Wake will remain in Stratford for a few days longer.

Mr Sinclair Macalister, was the only nomination as member to fill a vacancy on the Board of Governors of the Stratford Technical High School, * and has been duly reelected.

Mr S. H. James, who has held the post of registrar of births, deaths and marriages for the Stratford district, for the past thirty-seven years, has resigned the position as from the end : of the present month. The name of his successor has not been announced.

Dr. H. H. Leatliam (New Plymouth) and Miss Constance Leatham have been very fully occupied in sight-seeing and renewing old friendships and associations since they arrived in London, writes "The Wellington Post's'.' London correspondent on 23rd June. Miss Leatham, naturally, has been attending a number of concerts in London, and is enlarging acquaintance with great artists and great musical works. In the near future, during a visit to Paris. Miss Leatham hopes to have the benefit of gaining further musical experience. The date of their return to New Zealand has not yet been fixed.

The Victorian Athletic League has disqualified G. Getson, the New Zealand runner, for life, tor competing under the assumed name of C. J. Gibson in Australia. In a letter to Mr J, Kennedy (of tho New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union), Mr J. W. Shafe (sports supervisor and handicaper, Melbourne), said that handicapper, Melbourne), said that there was no doubt about Getson, and the Victorian League had disqualified him for life for having competed in Australia under an assumed name, and also for supplying incorrect information in his entry form. He was supposed to have been born at Geelong, Victoria, but the Registrar of Births could not trace the name, nor could the principal of St. Ignatius School, where he was supposed to have been educated. Getson had no escape, so far as Mr Shafe was concerned. The Canterbury Centre may now deal with the matter of prize money impounded by the Southbridge Club, and such money may now be paid to the next placed men.

The funeral of the late Mrs E. S. Rutherfurd took place at the Kopuatama Cemetery yesterday, there being a very large attendance,, and the great number of floral tributes bearing witness to the high esteem in which Mrs Rutherfurd -d*a held by a community to whom she had endeared herself by her high personal qualities and kindliness of heart. Always an ardent Church worker and an active member of the Golf aud Tennis Clubs, Mrs Rutherfurd possessed a very wide circle of personal friends to whom her unexpected demise comes as a great shock. Mr B. 8. Rutherfurd, Mr F. W. Wake and Mr O. Hawken M.P., (uncle to the deceased) were among the chief mourners present, and also other close family connections from far and near. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Scanning Tonk 3, Truby King, Alfred Coleman. Sinclair Macalister, E. H. Young and J. B. Richards, the service at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. C. W. Howard. Many very beautiful wreaths and floral offerings were placed on the casket, Including tributes from tho Stratford Racing Club, The Egmont Club, S. Mary's School, and the Stratford Club in addition to those sent by private firms and personal friends and sympathisers with the bereaved family. *
