MISSIONEIi'S LONG SENTENCE. Pete Press Association. Dunedin, August 9. At the Supreme Court to-day the case against Abraham Alfred Lind was concluded. Lind, who was an evangelist and missioner, was indicted on nine counts of rape and indecent assault, the alleged offences 'being against members of his own flock. On the occasions Lind bej haved improperly she felt helpless I and could neither speak nor protest. I On one occasion at Lind's house she ! had an irresistible impulse to kiss him and she did so. When she had pleaded with him one day to tell his wife of his misdoing he refused, saying: "I am sick of you." - The third girl was also examined. She stated Lind looked into her eyes and commanded her to do so, but on every occasion she resisted.

After a retirement of four and a-half hours the jury returned a verdict of guilty on one count of indocent assault and prisoner was sentenced to seven years' hard labor.
