Mr J. D. Murray and Miss Murray, of Stratford, left by this morning's mail train on a holiday trip to Aucklartvi

Mr and Mrs H. Schwieters and family, formerly of Douglas, left by this morning's mail train for Qhakune where Mr Schwieters takes over the management of the dairy factory.

A Sydney cablegram to-day announces the death of Mrs Brown, widow of the late Rev. Dr. Geo ge Brown, of Pacific Missions fame. Deceased was the daughter of the late Rev. J. Wallis, of New Zealand.

The board of directors of the Julilee Institute for the Blind, Auckland, has appointed Mr Clutha Mackenzie as a director. The candidature was supported by Mr C>ug;iley, director of the New Zealand

A Press Association from Nelson to-day reports, the death of Mr Jamea McEachen at the age of seventy-five. He was an old respected resident and a veteran printer, having assisted in publishing the first issue of the Dmiodin Star; and the Nelson Mail. Tie was a prominent Freemason, being secretary of the Southern Star Lodge for twenty-five years.
