CLOUDING THE ISSUE.

(To the Editor Stratford Evening Post.) Sir, —I quite agree with you that tlie Repatriation ,Board has done a lot for the Disabled Soldiers, but you must remember wo have had to pay it back. Although free from interest, how- were we getting on if we fell ili anytime through the effects of War Service? The money still had to be paid back, and, Sir, as far as some of the land the returned men were put on, it was not worth very much and the prices- paid for tome of the country in New Zealand were out of all reason.—l am. etc., R. P. STAYELEiY. Cliniie Road, Ngaere. May 30th, 1923. ('Fire above is utterly foreign to the, point at issue and is cither a deliberate side-step or an exhibition of hopeless ignorance of the position. What we arc dealing with is the Fallen Soldiers' Memorial—to which it ought to be a duty and an honor to subscribe. This honor our correspondent appears to begrudge, judging by his previous communication. Further our correspondent knows very well that he has not repaid the money (some £7O) he has received from the War Relief Association and is not expected to. Government loans, are quite in another category ami do not come into the present Case at all.—Ed. S.E.P.)
