'Olotncnccau’s not in reply to Mr Lloyd George’s 1919 memorandum, whorein M. Clemonceau} pointed out that to think of appeasing Germany was a pure illusion. The French policy was to help the new buffer States between Russia ami Germany. M. Mardieu, in the Echo, adds: Mr Jdoyd George was greatly irritated by this note, and replied to it three days later, but M. Clemenccau deemed it useless to make a rejoinder.
