Recently the Railway Department' at Wellington advised tho Taranaki Rugby Union that, in tho event of the cost of a train being guaranteed, a special (non-stop beyond Patea), would run to Wellington and return on the occasion of the final test match between tho Springbok* 1 and Now Zealand on the I.7th inst. The minimum guarantee asked for was 100 first-class fares. In the interim the union has bee n endeavoring to secure more definite information, and on Saturday evening the chairman (Mr J. McLeod) wad advised a,s follows by/the New Zealad Rugby Union; "Railways ask guarantee 100 fares, rate and a quarter, proposed train; leaving Friday night, returning Saturday night." When the amount of the, fare is known, seats may bo booked with Messrs MeLec and Slade's (New' Plymouth), or with Mr G. E. Jago (Stratford), or Mr J. Goodwin, of Goodwin, Davey and Co., (Hawera).
