IN VINDICATION.

(To the Editor' "Stratford Evening Post”). Sir’,— Though not presuming to judge your correspondent, may i crave further space, in briefly explaining, in the spirit of dutiful vindication, what is anything but a “hum-drum” question Because the Holy name “Yaluvch” (often rendered “Jehovah”/ is, of necessity, tianslated' “1 Am that I Am,” or “1,.Wi1l Be Who i Will Be,” it does not therefore cease to be a Name asyour correspondent suggests. It is only that our language has no other equivalent to convey the special significance desired in this particular memorial Name, of the Almighty,* which, in its import, is really prophetic of manifestation in the Messiah. To arrogate to oneself this name, as your correspondent evidently unwittingly does, in using it as a signature, is, I think, serious sacrilege, (Exodus 20, 7 :) rather than this, may it not be wiser to emulate the devout Jew, who, even in our day, approaches the Holy Name iii whatever form, with almost bated breath. In conclusion, Mr Editor, 1 consider it only fair to inform your correspondent' that the heading to nvy last letter was not my own. Thanking you.—l am, etc., HUMBLE. Stratford, June 13th. 1921
