FISHING NOTES.

The Hawera Star states:— Messrs Bell and Struthers on the Kaupokonui, landed a remarkably good Jot of brown trout. Twelve of the catch were shown in Bennett and Sutton’s widow, and evoked much admiration. They were all caught on the whitebait. The aggregate weight was 331,1 b. the largest being opb and the smallest All are in exceptionally good condition. The average of the twelve is 21b 12£oz. Me;srs T. Struthers and Bell brought home a bag of thirteen—all good fish, the largest four pounds, and all in first-class condition. Otakeho reports are very hopeful. Mr L. S. Mackie and Mr Putt were out op the Kaupokonui at 4.30 a. in. on the Ist, but had no luck. They then tried the Otakeho, and using the minnow got four each—two of 31bs and two of 21bs. They saw a good many small fish also. On the 2nd Mr Putt, on the Kaupokonui, got five averaging nearly 31bs, and on the’ following day four, averaging D3lbs in four hours. Mr Surgeuor landed four good fish on the Ist and seven on the 2nd on the Otakeho.
