CONCERT AND PRESENTATION OF PRIZES.

On Friday night there was a big afctendianoe at the StanleyHoad School on the occasion of the annual function a'* the close of the year. * The Chairman of Comniitl.ee (Mr Wellington) presided. The first half of the programme was supplied by the children, who, under, the direction .of their teacher. Miss Lilley, did splendidly. The items were as follows: Overture, Miss Loriia Forbes; Song by Senior Scholars, ‘TUe Fairies’; Recitation, ‘The Baby Over 'the Way,’ Jean and Slayie Hamilton; 'Song by the Juniors, ‘A Medley of Rhymes.’ Drill item: i.Rhoda Wlieller, Eva Adams, Mary Hamilton, -Reg* Dusking, Laurie Ad, ams,.'Orville. The M-Voud half was contributed by visitors, songs bMhg 'given by 'Miss Black, ‘(Stratford), Mrs Bennett, Mr Aitken (Stratford), 1 and Mr ‘Walters (Straitord). f • V>’ •

During'the'evening a presentation’ was : made to Mr and Mrs Bennett, : who area leaving • the ' district. The DJiairmah,- nia'Se the presentation, 1 an oak salad bowl and silver 6ake ‘stand from the people of the district in appreciation of the recipients’ ' services at district social functions. M r Bennett suitably replied. A feature of the evening was the arrangement of isupper, ..which was laid in the large. playehed, all pres, eut sitting down to tables,, enabling the eomniittee : tq clear the hall for dancing, for which Miss Huse supplied the dance music. ... On, the motion of the chairman a hearty vote, of thanks wag accorded, the visitors and helpers in connection with the function..’Mr Wellington also spoke highly ,of the work of Miss IJiley as schoolmistress. . The following is a list of the school awards for the year, while every*'child received a prize. Special Prizes from members of committee for good, attendance; Bhoda Wheller (six years consecutively full attendance); Dorothy Whdler (four years’ consecutively full, attendance);- Mary, Hamilton; James Hamilton. :

Special Prize for writing in Standard II from Mias &uppy, Maiide’Show.

Special prize as a mark of appreciation, of willing helpfulness from Miss Lilley: Doris, Phillips, Bawea McCroT, Easton Smith. K .
