On Thursday 24th October wo,held an unreserved sale, on behalf of E. Hino Esq. (who has sold* his estate to . the Government) on the farm () : all his live stock, implements and furniture. The weather was, unfortunately, wot all the forenoon. .Buyers were in attendance from all parts of the district and considering, the, backwardness of the spring season a very satisfactory sale resulted. Tiie feature of the sale was the excellent quality of the 1700 owes and lambs which were‘yarded in several lots at great trouble to the vendor in order to suit small purchasers. The 6 and 8-too tig ewes with 100 per cent lambs made 37>, £2 2s, £? 2s 3d and £2 -2& sd. On Tuesday, 29tli October we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards. Despite the cold wet rains most of the advertised stock was brought forward. Nearly every pen was disposed of at the hammer at full ruling values. 2-year old empty heifers and dairy heifers and cows met with -unsatisfied demand. Store cows £4 15s up £7 Gs, fresh forward cows £9 8s Gd up to £lO 11s, 2-year empty heifers £6 15s, £0 18s Gd up to £7 H!s, yearling to 15-months steers £1 12s up to £5 10s, yearling heifers £4, £5 ss, 2-21-year steers £7 19s Gd, £lO 10s, dairy cows £ll, £l2, £l-1 15s springing heifers £9 *o £ls. On Wednesday, 30th October, we held our sale in conjunction with Newton King in the Whangamomona Saleyards. The wet weatljer prevented a few advertised lines of shoe]) coming from a distance being .brought forward. However, a really good yarding was, offered, and . all lines made , satisfactory values.
