Owing to the serious nature of the influenza epidemic at Auckland telegrams for that place and district are suffering severe delay. Telegrams of the urgent nature only should be lodged. v Weather forecast.—The indications are for southerly moderate to strong winds. The weather will probably prove squally, with heavy showers. The night will probably be very cold. Barometer rising.—Bates, Wellington. The procession of school children to-day was imposing. Residents hear from time to time of the number of children attending the school, but seeing the children inarching in a column as they were'to-day - should impress residents, more than the 'reading of mere figures could ever do, with the importance of the work done at the Stratford School. . ' • Forty informations were laid against various local residents under the War Act for alleged breaches of the Licensing Act, in Stratford recently in connection with one hotel. Rueben Baldwin, a soldier on leave, died suddenly last night. It appears that lie : had been talking to his sister, but shortly air ter retiring she heard sounds of heavy breathing, and, going to his Toom, found him in a dying condition. Medical'aid was summoned, bu> the man was found to be dead.
