SHIPPING AND BUTTER.

MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. NO IMMEDIATE INCONVENIENCE Per Press Association, Wellington, November 1. Tho Hon. Mr Massey told a reporter yesterday that there would be no serious inconvenience through the scarcity of shipping for the next two months if the Imperial authorities were able to give effect to the present arrangements, but the position after the New Year would depend on the course of the war.

Mr Massey also said that the Imperial Government’s arrangements for the purchase of the season’s butter and cheese would be completed in about a week’s ti me - The purchase would not affect the local retail butter price, the maximum whereof was already fixed at Is 8d per lb.
