A London cable states that Lord Thynn'e, a member of the House of Commons, lias been killed in action.
Lieutenant L .W. Dean, N.Z.F.A., eldest son of the Rev. Oliver Dean, of Napier, who left with the Main Body and had seen four years' service, has been killed in action. ■
A Sydney cablegram announces the deaths of Sir Phillip Sydney Jones, the scientist, and Dr. Alexander Hay, formerly Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly of Australia.
On Saturday evening the members of the Waveriey Bowling Club entertained Mr A. D. Maepherson, who is leaving Waveriey to take up a V° sit ~ ion with the Farmers' Co-op. at Stratford, and presented him with a cheque.
The following Taranaki men were among those who died of sickness on the transport conveying the 40th Reinforcements: Jose Hodges (Ingle- , wood), Wm. Joseph Hansen ard Gilbert Hansen (Stratford), fred Smith (Norninnby), Stanley Row- % son (Stratford).
