VALEDICTORY.

At New Plymouth on Saturday evening (reports the News), a large gathering of Mr Newton King's office and warehouse staffs, with representatives from the Stratford, Jnglewood, Kaponga, and Manaia branches, assembled at Messrs May and Arrowsmith's tea rooms, the occasion being a presentation to Captain Eliot King, C.G., D.F.C., on the eve of his approaching marriage. The presentation, which took the form of a very, handsome case of cutlery and silver, was made by Mr 'Stanley Shaw, who, j on behalf of the whole of the staff, .wished Captain King and his bride- ' elect every happiness in their future ljfe. Watson added his j congratulations, and expressed to Captain King, on behalf of the staffs, i ! their congratulations on his promotion to the rank of captain, also with ! respect to the decorations of Croix de Crurre and Distinguished Flying Cross which had been conferred upon-him. j Mr Abraham, manager of Mr King's!
