THEOSOPHICAL LECTURE.

SECOND EDITION Continued.

A lecture entitled "The Angels of Mons and other Phenomena of the , Battlefield'' was delivered in tee , Medina Tea Rooms last night by Miss C W. Christie, who said:—The sorrow of the world bereaved of ivs finest sons [ by the present war is driving thon- ' sands of people to Spiritualistic i Seances to see those whom death has | taken from them, and to Theosophicai meetings to learn something of the after-death-conditions of those killed at the front. The orthodox teachers • of religion should be able to explain these, things hut they are not, wherel as the theosophicai leader can, because he has experimented and proved what lie leaches and can show others how to prove all for themselves. We are to-day quite fashionable when we speak of "thoughts as things," but to say that you can see them, or deI liberately create them is called proof , of a diseased imagination. Peopb believe in the efficacy of dreams related in the Bible, of the appearance of angels and of tiie miracles of the Lord Jesus, and they prate of the power of mind over matter yet in this day of the world's greatest need they have no comfort because they are taught that these things cannot happen now, to believe in a dream is superstition and to see an angel a sign of mental derangement. If the Lord came again and did not perform miracles they would say He is not the Lord ; If He did perform them He would be called a fraud and charlatan and the miracles classed as phenomena and the result of trickery. Our thoughts clothe themselves in mental matter which is coloured by our emotions, the thought makes the form and then ensouls it. I know because I can see them, can deliberately make them. The forms of l the angel's of Mons were made by the thoughts of thousands of Christians and the combined prayers of the Churches, for victory for the Right, and the protection of loved ones at the front, and these were made use of in some instances by invisible angels and their helpers who were thus saved the delay of creating visible bodies for themselves. The Patron Saints of England, Russia, of Ireland and of France were all seen and were created in the same way, and the power of God flowed through them to the soldiers. Mothers have gone in astral form and protected their boys. Friends and helpers go night after night while physical bodies sleep, and tend the wounded, soothe the dying and protect the fighters. There are no miracles, for a miracle is a contravention of law; what appeal - like, miracles are the result of power over finer and almost unknown forces of nature. Many interesting incidents were described, and the power (a) of imaterialising partially, (b) materia'is;ing so as to be tangible but not y : sib]e ! (c) visible but not tangible, and* (d) both visible and tangible was explained. The meeting closed with an appeal to the people to investigate and experiment, also study these things : for themselves and not to say thev kuow until belief is verified by experience.
