Australian wounded who have been repatriated from Turkey endorse the stories about the cruelty of the Turks to the prisoners and flatly contradict the statement that the Turk is a clean fighter. The usual punishment for petty, crime is to tie the prisoners head downwards to his feet and be lashed with rawhide whips. The treatment in Austria where, the Australians stayed some weeks was heaven compaied to Turkey.
