Mr B. S. Rutherford had to leave for Hamilton this raouing owing to the serious illness of his mother.

Lieutenant-Colonel Young, son the Rev. R. Young, of Carterton, has™ been wounded in France.

Air William O’Brien, a well-known settler at Spring Creek, Blenheim, died suddenly on Tuesday night, aged 6G.

Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., has hem ordered to go to Rotorua for at least a month’s medical treatment, his condition being more serious than Was at first expected.

There died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs; Kearney, 92 Nelson street, Pstone, Mr Charles Samuel Anderson, an old and respected resident of Dunedin, at the age of 82 years. Mr J.
