The passing of Sergt. James Smith, oi the 12th Reinforcements, who was killed in action on July 31, was very feelingly referred to by the master, Mr A. H. Halcombe, during the adjournment of the Hunt Club’s meet on Thursday. C.,D. Lightbourue, who has been assistant master at* the Eltham District High School for the past seven and a-half years, and director of the technical classes for the same period, is resigning his position to take up a similar appointment at the Feilding District High School, under the jurisdiction of the Wanganui Education Board (states the Argus).
