At the Supreme Court the jury, alter six hours' retirement, disagreed | in the case wherein Charles Henderson j was charged with assaulting Constable j Fitzgerald, with intent to do bodily harm. A new trial lias been ordered. Wanganui, February J 3. At the Supreme Court, Richard Patrick Pollard, at one time staff ser-geant-major at Hawrea, was found guilty on a charge of using an instrument for an illegal operation, as the result of which a girl died. This was his third trial. Sentence was deferred till Friday morning.
