Those who have a Dominion knowledge of dogs, and are in a position to give a reliable opinion, say unhesitatingly that the Stratford Show is each year gaining a higher place, and especially is this true with regard to the exhibition of dogs. .Mr Percy Smith told a representative of the Stratford Evening Post that among the Greyhounds there were 3 or 4 first-class animals, while the winning dog and bitch were exceptionally good specimens. In Pointers the winning dog, Jerry, the winner of the challenge, was a true-to-type animal. E. Bernasconi's bitch, ''Milk Maid," winner of the Challenge in the Pointers class, and also the Ladies' Bracelot, was in the pink of condition and an ideal dog. The English Setters were a strong class, including several of pood quality and providing. ykeM? competition. Of the Rough-coa'ted Collie, one was the winner of; 'the Challenge by the New Zealand Ken r nol Club, but there were not so many entries as expected. Bull dogs were well represented, especially in bitches. It was the judge's opinion that the

winning hitch could probably take pride of place anywhere in New Zealand. Of Cocker Spaniels, there were some first-class specimens. Fox Terriers were strong, both numerically and in quality, Mr J. Kidd, of Dannevirke, being the most successful exhibitor. The results, which in some cases, were made after keenest competition, were as follows: GREYHOUNDS. Novice Dogs—F.
