FATAL TRAIN ACCIDENT.
MAORI CHILD KILLED AND ADULTS INJURED. Per Press (Association. Taumarunui, January 22. A terrible accident occurred this morning on the Taringamotu Timber Coy's, line. A train consisting of an open truck and a covered passenger cor runs from Taringamotu to Waitulli. A number of Maoris travelled in the open truck, the Pakehas travelling in the covered car. Apparently, the train ran off the line, as the trucks overturned, killing a Maori child "and badly injuring its mother, breaking the legs of two Maori women and the arm of another. Fortunately the covered van saved the Pakehas; who escaped injury.
