TRENCH-FIGHTING. United Press Association. Paris, January 21. Official: The enemy gained a footing in the trenches north of Notre Dame do Lorette, hut were expelled as the result of our counter-attack, wherein a hundred prisoners were taken. Attacks at Albert, La Boiselle, La Fontaine, Aux Charmes, and Argonne were also repulsed. FRENCH PROGRESS* REPORT. (Received 9 a.m.) Paris, January 21.
A communique states: We silenced the enemy batteries southward of the Somme and on the Aisne, and blew up German works and ammunition depot in the Prosnes le Smaquises and Moronvillers districts, eastward of Rheims.
