A. Myers Luncheon.

The Colonial Institute gave a luncheon to Mr A. M. Myers, M.P. for Auckland Eas,t, Lieutenant-General Sir Jas. Bevan Edwards presiding. ! The .Chairman recalled the Met that he had inspected the New Ze:;iland forces in 1889, and there was no liner material for soldiers in the world. ~S\v Myers, in the course 1 of his speech, dealt with finance and defence. He justified the New Zealand loans on the ground that they were devoted to reproductive works. He declared that Australia, Canada, and. New Zealand should unite to relieve Britain of the defence of the Pacific.
