One-of the mimerous motor cars engaged in bringing electors to the poll met with an accident this morning. While taking a turn over a railway crossing it skidded on the rails, turned half round, and came up against a fence. Three ladies were in the car at the time and it was' fortunate that tl 10 accident resulted in nothing more serious than a slight damage to the car. Another accident which might easily have ended seriously occurred at one of the town corners. .Dr Carbery’s gig nearly collided with a motor car when turning a corner, the horse almost turning round in the shafts to escape the car. The horse fell to the ground, but nobody was hurt at all.
Mr. R. H. White returned from Wellington by the mail train yesterday, having paid a Hying visit to the Empire City to purchase a disputed shipment of drapery suddenly thrown on.the market cheap.
