HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT

(Per Press Association. - ) Wellington, November 27._ Following is the High Commissioner’s cable dated London, November 25th (quotations unless otherwise specified are for average market prices on spot) : \ Mutton.—ln very small supply. Canterbury 4.',d, North Island -Id. Lainij.—The market is quiet. The weather lately has been very unfavourable to thq sale of lamb. Canterbury 5-Jd, other than Canterbury 4fd. Beef.—There is little demand and mines are firm. New Zealand hinds 3kl, New Zealand fores 2fd, butter.—The market is very firm with general and active demand. Average prices for the week: Choicest New Zealand 1325, Australian 1295, Danish 1375, Siberian 1255, Argentine 130 s.

Cheese.—-The market is steady with very good demand. Average price for week: Finest New Zealand (58s, Canadian 70s, English cheddar 90s. Hemp.—The market remains firm, but with a limited demand. New Zealand good fair grade £2O, fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £2O for all positions. The output from Manila for the week was 26,000 bales. Kauri Gum.—The market is quiet with small business doing. Dark Brown selected re-scraped £6 10s to £7 10s, dark brown three-quarter scraped 85s to 90s, dark brown chips (drossy) 30s to 40s, re-scraped pale amber 10s to 12s, three-quarter pale scraped 7s to Bs, diggers’ chips (good) 45s to 555. A total of 222 cases were offered and 100 cases were sold. The stock on October 31st was 372 cases. Wool.—The market is steady and there is very good demand. Prices are firm at last quotations.
