was 1 vofdi'Vsfood would be laid before Ibirliat this ' session. Assistance was also asked from the Government for' completion of a bridge which was the' main outlet for Martinborough. Tiie Minister replied that the Government was strictly limited as to the amount of money available for railwhy construction. He realised that the district was an excellent one and capable of great development, but doubted very much whether if any branch railways’ would be authorised this session. The matter would he placed before Cabinet, and it would receive the same consideration as others. The bridge question was settled long ago. The district insisted in lengthening the bridge and adding to the cost to an extent which the Government regarded as unnecessary. If they wanted luxuries they must pay for them. They could spend as much money as they liked, but would get no more from the Government.
